Youth Services

Working with the young is a challenging, yet rewarding career.  Making a difference in a young persons’ life is something that all adults working in the youth sector want to do.  ‘A difference’ can be something as small getting a smile out of someone who has had nothing good happen to them for a long time; or it can be as big as making a youth truly believe in themselves. 

Hoop Hoop Hooray is committed to making a difference in the lives of young people.  With qualifications such as Life Coaching, NVQ2 in Childcare, PGCE, Sports Coach Mentoring, Val Sabin – Coaches in the Curriculum, Trampoline Coaching, GMPD (Gymnastics and Movement for People with Disabilities) and over 10 years working with children (special needs and mainstream) in schools, youth clubs, sports centres and sports clubs; Hoop Hoop Hooray has a real understanding of what it’s like to be a young person today.

Hoop Hoop Hooray offer a unique Hooping program for any organisation involved specifically with young people.  Based on the The HoopGirl™ Workout, youths will take part in a feel-good fitness programme! Each week the session’s theme will be based around an affirmation that will boost self esteem and confidence.  Students will be taught moves and tricks using the hoop which will increase balance, co-ordination and spatial awareness.  One-to-one attention will leave the youths feeling special, unique and like they really matter.  Problem solving will be encouraged as instead of being told why they can’t do a certain skill; they will be guided in finding out what works best for their bodies.    During a ‘Hoop Jam’ students will be given the opportunity to shine and receive praise and recognition from their peers.  Finally, the energy raised in class will be directed to a focused outcome.  The sessions will end by bringing the group together to create a sense of community. 

This 90minute* (*can be reduced or extended if required) class format includes time to create connections between students, dancing to prepare the body for movement, offers instruction of sensory awareness, moves and principles.  It promotes team-building and morale boosting activities and ends with creative performance opportunities and stretching. 

This session is suitable for all sections of Youth Services, but the groups that will specifically benefit from the programme are:

·         Young Carers and other Youth Based Charities

·         Disadvantaged Youths

·         Exclusion Projects

·         Scouts/Brownies/Cubs

·         Disability Groups or Charities – we can work together to organise a program that is centred around the needs of your students 

·         School Holiday Programmes

·         After School Clubs

·         Youth Clubs

·         In school Projects

·         Preparation leading up to School Displays/Fairs/ Fun Days

·         PPA cover – sessions can be tailored to coincide with PE or PSHE/SEAL activities

In addition to the arranged sessions, companies have the option to add on a ‘Make Your Own Hoop’ Workshop which will unleash the creativity of the youths by allowing them to design and decorate a hoop that will be as unique as they are.
